The bottom feeders have presented us with a new lottery scam. They are hoping to sucker us into providing personal information and then proceed to ask for advanced fees to cover the odd costs required to claim your “winnings”.
Just another low life attempt to steal form the uninformed. Don’t fall for this one folks!
The following schemes are explained in the Identifying Scams section.

  32. Amber says:

Consider the following facts about real lotteries:
They do not notify winners by email.
You can not win without first buying a lottery ticket.
They do not randomly select email addresses to award prizes to.
They do not use free email accounts (Yahoo, Gmail, etc) to communicate with you.
They do not tell you to call a mobile phone number.
They do not tell you to keep your winnings secret.
They will never ask a winner to pay any fees to receive a prize!
Any “courier service”, “lawyer” or “bank” that a fake “lottery” may have introduced you to is also fake!

  33. Sipha says:

Hi, i received an sms today 16-11-2011 saying that I’ve won one million rands. I phoned the number 078 982 3369 or +278 2562 5475 because I know this can not be true and sounded even more of a scam when I spoke to the guy. He then asked me for my personal banking details and I simply refused because one can not trust anyone with your banking details. He then said I can sms it with my identity number and will send me the cheque by mail. In any event I asked him for his details and a landline number and he refused to give it to me because he only uses this cell number which was even more so strange.

This is the e-mail I received today. As I think nobody gives money to you without knowing you or without you doing anything for earning it, I looked for information about this lottery and I found this website. I don`t use to give my personal information to others and I think you must do the same. Please, be careful and don`t trust anyone, remember, if you want money just work for earning it, don`t expect anyone gives it to you.
