In the last few monthes we have seen a huge increase in Phishing activity aimed at Canadian financial institutions and their clients. I have received at least one example for each of the major banks. These Phishing E-Mails are very well made and the Spoofed web sites resemble the official ones in great detail. Long gone are the usual means of spotting these bogus E-Mails, such as; spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and lousy fake logos.
The Canadian Banking Association offers some examples and hints that are very helpful and worth viewing.
Remember that financial institutions will never under any circumstances ask for your personnel information this way. Should you doubt the authentiticy of the E-Mail , never answer or open the link provided. Always open up a new browser and enter the actual URL of the institution you deal with and recognize as valid.
